Using Multimedia to Enhance the Syllabus and Improve Student Engagement

We all know the jokes about students never reading the syllabus, but how can we change the stigma? How can we get the important information across to students in a way that they will read it, but still meet the requirements of our departments?

Laura Mirochna is an Instructional Designer at Teas Woman’s University and a PhD candidate at the University of Kentucky studying Ed Policy and Evaluation, focusing on Instructor Professional Development. She has been teaching for the past 16 years.

Kelli Brizzolara is an Associate Professor in Physical Therapy. She was a clinician first but got into teaching because she loves the profession and wanted to implement best practices into her teaching in higher ed. She came up with the idea for this presentation during an ACUE course in Effective Teaching Practices.
