Measuring Engaged Learning in Online and Blended Courses

This presentation will introduce the use of the Indicators of Engaged Learning Online (IELO) framework as a guide to evaluate the quality of online and blended courses. We will explore how the Indicators of Engaged Learning Online (IELO) framework could be used as a tool for evaluating the quality of online courses by instructional designers (IDs) and instructors.

In this presentation, we will:

  • Identify key elements of engaged learning in online and blended courses
  • Consider use of the (IELO) Framework for measuring student engagement in blended and online courses
  • Apply the (IELO) Framework to improve course design by increasing planned opportunities for student engagement
  • Share examples of observable engaged learning in your own online and blended courses
