Rethinking Study Abroad: Alternative Models Offering Greater Accessibility & Affordability

The panelists will share alternative models of study abroad from the perspective of :

  • Financial Considerations
  • Global Partnerships & Community Engagement

The session will include discussion with participants about examples from the field, the impact of the pandemic, and considerations for the future .

Dr. Breeda McGrath is the Associate Campus Dean for Online programs at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is the current UPCEA International Network Chair. Originally from Ireland, Breeda lives in Puerto Rico and she engages in collaborative projects on psychology and higher education in Indonesia, India, Senegal and Puerto Rico.

Dr. Terry Borg is currently Director of Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Education, External & Global Programs Office. Focusing on Southeast Asia/Asia, Dr. Borg’s work has resulted in producing multiple cultural-educational programs/exchanges with Taiwan, South Korea, China and Indonesia.

Dr. Marissa Lombardi is the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Partnerships at Education First. Previously, she was Director of the Master of Science in Global Studies and International Relations program at Northeastern University, and Faculty Scholar at the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research. Marissa received UPCEA’s 2019 International Leadership Award.
